Credit Review Specialist

Position Summary:

As a Credit Review Specialist, you will play a key role in reviewing The First National Bank in Sioux Falls' loan portfolio to accurately identify credit risks and evaluate the effectiveness of credit administration practices. Working independently, you will utilize your analytical skills and judgment to determine appropriate risk ratings for individual credits. As a trusted resource for regulatory and accounting matters, you will cultivate strong relationships with lending personnel and management.

What will you do:

Accountabilities

Communicate with Stakeholders

Initiate discussions with lenders, credit analysts, team leads, managers, etc. to identify, clarify, and/or discuss credit-related concerns, root cause(s), and/or findings and recommendations.

  • Communicate specific identified credit concerns in Credit Review exit meetings as necessary and act as a resource to management, where appropriate, in implementing corrective actions.
  • Attend/participate in credit-related meetings; including business and agricultural loan committee, past due meetings, Risk Management Committee, Reserve Adequacy Committee, etc. to stay informed and abreast of current internal credit conditions.
  • Share knowledge obtained from lender, analyst, team lead, committee discussions/meetings with Credit Review teammates.

Evaluate Lending Relationships

Confirm accurate risk ratings are assigned to sampled credit relationships and initiate changes as needed.

  • Identify exceptions to loan policy and/or guidelines relative to credit analysis, administration, collateral, and monitoring.
  • Independently review and assess risk ratings within sampled non-complex credit relationships and escalate identified discrepancies as needed.
  • Independently review and assess credit administration within sampled non-complex credit relationships to determine compliance with internal bank policies/guidelines as well as accounting/banking laws, regulations, and guidance.
  • Apply working knowledge of accounting/banking laws, regulations, and guidance to perform duties in accordance with these requirements.
  • Lead and/or participate/assist in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Secondary education in related field preferred. Five or more years of relevant work experience in commercial and agricultural credit review, compatible lending or comparable lending or regulatory experience, or a combination of education/experience that would enable incumbent to meet accountabilities and required competencies of the position.
